Ross is Professor of Management and Director, Postgraduate Research Studies, School of Business and Law at CQUniversity. Between May 2010 and January 2014 he was Head of the Deakin Graduate School of Business at Deakin University. Prior to that he spent over 20 years the University of Western Sydney where he was promoted to Professor of Business Systems and was appointed to several positions including Head of School and Associate Dean (Research). Between 1979 and 1985, Ross worked for several large multinational companies in technical, QC/QA and R&D management positions. He has taught and researched predominantly in the areas of Quality, Innovation and Technology Management. He is author or co-author of 3 books and over 90 book chapters, refereed journal and conference papers in the above areas. Ross has been Non-Executive Director on the Boards of two not-for-profit organisations, and was a Board member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), where he was the 2011 President and Chair of the Board.

Teaching Areas:
These topics have been taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the University sector (and to both on-shore and off-shore postgraduate classes). Considerable experience has also been gained in the design and delivery of training programs in these areas to specific companies (eg Sydney Water and Hawker de Havilland) and to many industry associations and business improvement networks in the Greater Western Sydney region (such as the AQC Small Business Awareness Sessions). Independent Student Evaluation exercises undertaken for all subjects with excellent outcomes for all aspects considered.
Eight years in private industry positions such as Research Officer and Technical Manager between 1971-3 and 1980-85. Considerable research management/administration experience through international research project coordination and also through several University management positions including Head of Department, Associate Dean (Research) and Associate Dean (Research) for the College of Business, UWS. Several periods as Acting Dean of College, Dean of Graduate Studies and PVC (Research), plus my current position as Head of the Deakin Graduate School of Business have provided a broad understanding of managing people and resources within a University environment. As Head of the large (60 F/T staff members) Graduate School of Business at Deakin, considerable experienced was gained in leading and driving TEQSA, AACSB, EPAS accreditations as well as domestic and international MBA ranking schemes. Similarly, private sector management experience and Non-Executive Director positions on two not-for-profit Boards have provided valuable experience in wider governance roles. Member of the ANZAM Ltd Board of Directors since 2007; elected as President for 2011 (3 year cycle 2010-12); co-opted again in 2013 as Treasurer.
