I have been lecturing in the Higher Education sector since 1997. As an educator, I adopt a constructivist philosophy that facilitates student learning. I encourage students to adopt an active role in and take responsibility for their learning process, to make choices, and to control their learning. I enable students to construct meaning to develop new, relevant and contemporary knowledge. I accomplish this within a teaching environment that adopts a process of guided student discovery and exploration utilising their existing knowledge and experiences to learn more about their field of study.
I research in the area of Organisational Change and developed the 'Employee Responses to Organisational Change' scale in 2006. I was particularly interested in what influenced employees to respond positively or negatively to change; finding that employees had both cognitive and behavioural responses. Most recently my research is combining my dual passions of organisational change and the visual arts. I am exploring changes that have happened in art galleries over the past 15-20 years and future directions for galleries from the perspectives of art gallery staff, artists and art consumers.
