About Me

Dr Fae Heaselgrave is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Communication in the School of Education and the Arts with more than 25 years of combined experience across higher education, government and industry. Her teaching and curriculum expertise spans strategic communication, digital communication, media studies and work-integrated learning, with a particular interest in creating engaging and accessible learning experiences that connect academic study with professional practice.

Fae has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate programs at several Australian universities and has extensive experience in curriculum development, online learning and assessment design. Her approach is informed by universal design for learning principles, supporting students to engage with content through multiple pathways and modes of expression. Fae is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributes to the broader higher education community through peer review of teaching, external curriculum review and accreditation activities, and examination of higher degree research proposals.

Fae's research examines how communication technologies shape everyday experiences, relationships and decision-making. She has a particular interest in parenting, family media practices and parental decision-making in the digital home. Her work on digital mothering has been widely featured across television, radio, podcasts and online media.

More broadly, Fae's research explores the social implications of digital and emerging technologies across family, educational and professional contexts, including online learning, communication practice and the adoption of new technologies. Through her research, teaching and industry engagement, she seeks to generate evidence that informs policy and professional practice, and supports the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
