About Me

I am a lecturer in CQU's School of Access Education, teaching in the STEPS program.

I am also a poet originally from Detroit, Michigan. I have published three books of poetry and one book of co-translations of the Mexican poet, Benjamin Valdivia. My second book of poetry, Sometimes a Woman (Recent Work Press 2021), won the 2022 WILLA Literary Award for Poetry (USA). My third book of poetry, Still Lives (Gazebo Books 2022), won a Canberra Critics Award in 2022 and was a finalist for the ACT Poetry Book of the Year.

I completed my PhD from the University of Canberra in 2023 through the HDR program, and my creative thesis was entitled, "That Way: A Poem Sequence & Entering Voices", while the exegesis was called, "Filling Space, Considering Time: Poetic Form and the Representation of Nineteenth-Century Women ‘Pioneers’ in America".
