Dr. Fatima Afzal is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Project Management, Built Environment, Asset & Maintenance Management (CoPBA), School of Engineering and Technology, Central Queensland University (CQUniversity). She holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology (Pakistan), Master in Project Management management and a PhD degree in construction Management awarded by the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Dr Afzal has been researching sustainability issues in the construction industry and the built environment and has been active in sustainability research since 2015. Her doctoral research was related to sustainability management in construction organizations. She has worked with many public departments on research projects related to sustainable building design. Dr. Afzal has also investigated issues relating to the use of technologies (e.g., BIM, 3D printing, machine learning, etc.) to achieve sustainability targets in the building and construction sector.
Dr Afzal is a committed educator specialising in student engagement and developing key competencies in future industry professionals. Acknowledged for her contributions, Dr Afzal has received many Teaching Excellence Awards.
