Dr. Fatima Afzal is a Senior Lecturer in the College of Project Management, Built Environment, Asset & Maintenance Management (CoPBA), School of Engineering and Technology, Central Queensland University (CQUniversity). She holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology (Pakistan), Master in Project Management management and a PhD degree in construction Management awarded by the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Dr. Afzal has been conducting research into the issues sustainability in construction and built environment and has been active in sustainability research since 2015. Her doctoral research was related to sustainability management in construction organizations. She has worked with many public departments in research projects relating to sustainable building design and . Dr. Zhao has also investigated the issues relating to the use of technologies (e.g., BIM, 3D printing, machine learning, etc.) for achieving sustainability targets in the building and construction sector.
Dr Afzal is a committed educator with a special interest in student engagement and developing key competencies in the future industry professional. Prior to joining CQU she worked as the Director of Project Management Program at the University of Sydney for several year.
