Dr. Janitha Abeygunasekera is a Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Business and Law at CQU and prior to joining CQU, she was a full-time academic at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Further, she had gained experience as a researcher, collaborator, sessional staff member, and guest lecturer in many other universities in Sri Lanka and in Australia during the last fourteen years in her academic career.

She obtained her PhD from Queensland University of Technology in 2019 and her Masters and Bachelors degrees from University of Colombo and Postgraduate Institute of Management, in Sri Lanka respectively.

She had published her research in ranked journals and presented her research in reputed international conferences. Apart from publications, she had been continuously developing her knowledge and increasing her involvement in learning and teaching by obtaining qualifications such as Fellow in Higher Education Academy (FHEA) UK and Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) with accreditation from Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) UK.

She has experience in teaching face-to-face and online at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels and have teaching interests in Accounting, Auditing, and Qualitative Research Methods. Her research interests span across a broad range of areas, including Accounting and Financial Reporting, Performance Measurement, Auditing, Business Process Management, Small and Medium Enterprises, Internet-based Technologies, and Teaching and Learning.
