Dr Narottam Das received his B.Sc. Eng. (Hons.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Chittagong, Bangladesh: M.Sc. Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh; and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Yamagata University, Yamagata, Japan in 2000.
Currently, he is working as a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Technology (Melbourne Campus), CQUniversity Australia. Prior to join at CQUniversity, he worked as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Toowoomba, QLD, Australia; Curtin University Sarwak Campus, Miri, Malaysia and Curtin University, Perth, WA, Australia; Edith Cowan University (Joondalup Campus), WA, Monash University (Clayton Campus), VIC, Australia, NEC Yamagata Ltd., Yamagata, Japan and Bangladesh Export Import Company, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He received NEC Yamagata Ltd., Japan award in 2001 for successful completion of the project entitled “Measurement and Evaluation for UMOS2 (Ultra-fast MOSFET2) TEG”.
He is the author/co-author of 4 books, 8 books chapters, over 135 referred international reputed journal papers and conference proceedings, and more than 20 industrial technical reports at NEC Yamagata Ltd., Japan. Dr. Das is a senior member of the IEEE, member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia, member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics, Life fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Computer Society.
His research interests include Power system communications, IEC 61850 for substation automation system, renewable (high-efficiency solar cells) energy technology and smart grid system, pulse propagation, optical non-linearity, wave-mixing, high speed communication devices, plasmonics and plasmonics based photodetectors. He is a regular reviewer for the IEEE Transaction papers and other Journal and conference papers in the area of communications and renewable energy (solar cells). Dr. Das is the editor of the books “Nano-structured Solar Cells”, “Advances in Optical Communication”, “Optical Communications Systems”, and “Optical Communication”, Intech Publisher, Vienna, Austria.
