My position within the University is Head of College for Nursing and Midwifery within the School on Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences. I am both a Registered Nurse and a Registered Midwife. My commitment is to excellence in nursing and midwifery education as I believe it to be a conduit for social and economic community transformation.
First and foremost, I am a clinician with experience in Intensive Care, Maternal and Neonatal Care and Nursing Management. I am also an experienced academic, teaching into undergraduate and postgraduate courses, coupled with Higher Degree Research supervision.

Research Activities
I completed my PhD titled The lived experience of Nurse Academics on Satellite Campuses of Australian Universities: A phenomenological study in 2017.
I have a strong track record of high-quality research with influential collaborations. The overall theme of my research is social justice and stakeholder welfare. On the organisational level I have investigated the experience of nurse academics on satellite campuses, on the nursing and midwifery level, I have been concerned with resilience and supporting nurses/ midwives in the workforce. Through the Research Ready Program, I have encouraged clinicians to engage in research activity. On the patient level, I have considered the experiences of women who were unable to conform to breastfeeding recommendations. Finally, on the student level, I have explored new and innovative teaching strategies which engage undergraduate nursing students to improve student outcomes. Outcomes from my research have been presented via publications, conference presentations and recommendations for practice.
I am currently accredited for supervision in the following:
