About Me
I have been working as a Lecturer in College of ICT, School of Engineering and Technology, CQUniversity. I served as the Discipline Lead – Mobile Apps from October 2020 – February 2022, and Discipline Lead – Software Design and Mobile Application Development from March 2022 – June 2023, where I provided academic leadership in curriculum planning, course quality assurance, and program development.
I have extensive experience in course coordination, assessment design, and curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. My leadership roles have involved overseeing teaching standards, aligning course learning outcomes with accreditation requirements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. I am committed to research-informed teaching that integrates emerging technologies with practical, industry-relevant learning experiences.
I am strongly committed to pedagogical innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and learning. My approach is grounded in reflective practice, using structured reflective cycles to evaluate teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and assessment outcomes. I actively explore AI-powered learning approaches to support personalised and adaptive education. This includes integrating AI tools to facilitate interactive learning experiences, formative feedback, and real-time student support. I am also a strong advocate for academic integrity in the age of AI. I contribute to assessment redesign strategies that promote authentic, practice-based evaluation and reduce opportunities for academic misconduct.
My research spans AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data privacy, and quantum computing. I am particularly interested in the practical deployment of intelligent systems, ensuring that theoretical advances translate into scalable, secure, and real-world applications. My work explores applied AI and computer vision solutions for domains such as smart farming and intelligent infrastructure, as well as privacy-preserving and secure computing frameworks. In addition, I am engaged in research on post-quantum cryptography, addressing emerging security challenges posed by quantum computing advancements. My research philosophy emphasises bridging theory, security, and deployment considerations to develop robust, future-ready digital systems.
I welcome collaboration in applied AI, computer vision, smart farming, data privacy, and post quantum cryptography.
General
Background
I received the BScEng in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1999 and the PhD in Information Technology from Monash University in 2007.
Following the completion of my PhD at Monash University, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Gippsland Regional Automation Centre, where I developed and tested a prototype intelligent fish-sorting machine.
I subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology, contributing to a CRC-funded project titled Multi-channel Content Delivery and Mobile Personalisation. I also held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Central Queensland University, where I contributed to a project on integrating renewable energy into smart grids.
To date, I have published 43 refereed papers in reputable journals and conferences, as well as four book chapters.
I am affiliated with professional organisations, including the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
I received the QUT Faculty of Science and Technology Excellence in Teaching (Team) Award for outstanding teaching performance. In 2023, I participated in the CSIRO ON Prime program and received two awards for outstanding performance.
I have supervised one PhD and four Master by Research candidates to completion. I regularly examine higher degree research theses, including PhD dissertations, and serve as a panel member for confirmation of higher degree research candidature.
I served as a member of the ICT Course Committee, the ICT Course Reference Committee, and the ICT Executive Committee at CQUniversity. I also contributed as a co-opted member of the CQUniversity Curriculum Committee.
