I received my PhD degree in 2003 from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Currently, I am a senior lecturer in Information Technology with the School of Engineering and Technology, Central Queensland University, Australia. My research interests include computational intelligence & neural networks, deep learning and applications in spectral data analysis, optimization algorithms and applications in timetable scheduling problems, probabilistic modelling, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation. I have been a peer reviewer of several internationally prestigious journals, including Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier), Neural Computing and Applications (Springer), Applied Artificial Intelligence (Francis Taylor), IEEE-Access etc., and a program committee member of more than 25 international conferences. I am currently co-supervising a PhD student in the area of machine learning and a master student in optimization algorithms. Students interested in working in the above areas as PhD and masters can contact me via email.
My current research interests are on neural network & fuzzy logic applications, computational intelligence & optimization techniques, and Java application system development. For Master and PhD research in these areas, please send me an e-mail(m.li@cqu.edu.au) for preparation of research proposals.
I am currently accredited for supervision in the following:
Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing - Neural, Evolutionary and Fuzzy Computation
Computer Software - Programming Languages
Information Systems - Database Management
