2001 academic consultant to the Family Court of Australia to act on both the National Steering Committee and Working Party developing the Family Court Rules 2004. The working party consisted of three people who were charged with researching international best practice in case management and formulating detailed drafting instructions for the new rules. In fact, the working party drafted the new rules. This was a significant national project attracting much international attention. The outcome of this process now shapes the face of Family Court litigation. The rules have been quite successful and have received good reviews. This project provided me with considerable legislative drafting experience and experience with dealing with legislative drafting and the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department.
