Rahil Shams is awarded a Doctoral degree in Marketing from the University of Queensland in 2015. Prior to joining UQ Business School in 2010, Rahil was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (marketing major) from Tehran University in Iran, graduating with First Class and High Distinction in 2005. She graduated with an MBM in marketing, awarded with High Distinction, from Tehran University in 2008. She has been serving as an ad hoc reviewer for EJM (ABDC journal ranking: A*), International Journal of Emerging Markets, and Information Resources Management Journal (ABDC journal ranking: C).
Rahil also has industry experience. Prior to UQ Business School she spent two years working in a well-known market research firm in Iran: “Innovate” (http://www.innovate.ir/). As a senior researcher at Innovate, Rahil worked with clients in a range of industries, including FMCG, Automotive and Financial Services. She was the course coordinator for the first brand management program held by Innovate in 2009, Tehran-Iran. Rahil was the associate editor and executive manager for the first branding magazine in Iran, titled: Brand Magazine, published by Int’l Brand Conference, between 2008 and 2010.
Rahil has tutored a variety of different undergraduate and postgraduate courses (e.g., Business Research Methods, Foundations of Marketing, Brand Management and Strategy, Marketing Strategy, and Product and Service Management) at UQ Business School. She has previously held research assistant and sessional lecturer positions at University of Tehran, Faculty of Management. Rahil also received formal training in TTC (Teacher Training Course) at the International House World Organization (ih), Applied Structural Equation Modelling Using AMOS, Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Incorporated (ACSPRI), and Leximancer Introductory Training Course, Leximancer Pty Ltd.
