About Me
Hi. I'm Celia. I've been a sonographer since 1996, and in 2015 made the transition into lecturing within this amazing undergraduate sonography course here at CQU—the first undergraduate ultrasound course in Australia! This is the most challenging job I've ever had, but also the most rewarding. I just love it!
After coordinating two of the biggest simulation lab-based units that teach sonography students practical skills, I now coordinate units that lead into these two lab units, to ensure students have the anatomical, pathological, and sonography image recognition knowledge before getting into that driver's seat as the scanner. While these can be challenging units for students, the knowledge base they develop will be used every day as sonographers. To help with more difficult concepts, I love using analogies to enhance understanding. I really enjoy seeing students' critical thinking skills expand and grow as student sonographers.
Following completion of my PhD on interpreting professionalism for sonography, I definitely understand how students can feel regarding how scary and challenging study and learning new things can be. However, this is where I love to ask students why they are doing this and to keep focused on that ... just keep going ... one step at a time! We've got this!
I am passionate about research and looking forward to supervising a wide range of students' projects.
Have a great day!
