Before 2002, Lily was working at Xi'an Jiaotong University for many years. Lily worked in a number of roles including lecturer, L&T administrator, and software engineer.

Since 2002, Lily had been a full time academic at CQUniversity. Her experience covers course coordination, program operation and management, curriculum design, and research.

Unit coordination and taught: Programming, Internet Applications, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Computing, Capstone Projects, ICT Industry Work Placement, and ICT Internship.

Teaching & Learning management, and leadership:

• Head of Courses for Undergraduate ICT (2015 - 2020).
• Head of Courses for MIT (2009-2011).
• Discipline Leader for Application/Software Development discipline (2013-2014).
• Program accreditation with ACS (2009, 2014, 2019).
• Five-yearly program review for Undergraduate ICT Courses (2019).

Industry and scholarly engagement:

1. Invited PhD thesis examiner (Murdoch University, Australia, 2020).
2. Xian Euraisa University Curriculum Review Committee Meeting (2020).  
3. Program director for Column72-CQU collaboration for delivering IBMMainframe course with the CQU BIT course (since Jan. 2020).
