In this role, I provide strong leadership and guidance to staff within Learning and Teaching Services and the wider CQUniversity community. I ensure a high standard of effective and efficient support for learning and teaching is provided in line with the University’s strategic direction. I promote open engagement between Learning and Teaching Services, professional, and academic staff and senior management of the University. I work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and teaching) and School Deputy Dean’s to support learning and teaching renewal, assuring quality outcomes with a focus on improved education performance.

My primary focus was to support the development and enhancement of learning and teaching across the institution. Specifically, my accountabilities include:

· Develop learning and teaching innovations that are appropriate and sustainable while conforming to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

· Develop, coordinate and deliver academic development activities in order to extend the skills of academic staff.

· As a lecturer, I teach into the University’s Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education. This requires course development and delivery using a range of information communication technology and our learning management system MOODLE.

· Ensure evaluation of all staff development activities ensuring ‘closing the loop’ feedback.

· Maintain effective relationships with staff, management, external stakeholders and other universities through my high level communication and negotiation skills.

· Participate and/or lead committees, working parties, projects and meetings associated with learning and teaching as well as contributing to university governance.

· Analyse and review programs and courses to advise on curriculum development and/or requirements.

· Advise staff in the use of specialist multimedia software, services and processes

· Be familiar with contemporary research literature in order to harness findings that improve learning and teaching.

· Conduct research and produce publications that contributed to the literature and assist the University in its goal of becoming a leader in flexible and online learning

· Represent the University at national and international forums and conferences.

Lecturer/Acting Head of Program

I was initially appointed as the

Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary/VET) and

Bachelor of Learning Design (BLD) Head of Program in conjunction with Bill Blayney.

Following this role, I took over Head of Program for the Bachelor of Creative Enterprise.

These roles required the following:

 

· Deliver a range of University level teaching via face-to-face and online mediums.

· Package course material using information communication technologies.

 

· Lead Coordination of 10 staff over 6 campuses in course development, moderation and review.

· Manage the shift in pedagogical practice of staff in order to embrace online course development and delivery.

· Make positive contributions to the Faculty team culture using effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Consultation, advice and student counselling.

· Facilitate quality-assured submissions for proposals of new courses or programs.

· Work with Head of School in developing a Business Plan for programs and associated initiatives.

· Ensure quality/continuity of teaching in program while maintaining external accreditation.

· Assist with marketing and promotions by preparing material and representing the University at expos, schools and with industry.

· Consult with other team members and team leaders across campuses and delivery sites.

· Collaborate and initiate collaboration between the various sectors of the wider university community as well as individual Faculties, Schools, relevant Industry and general community.

This position lead projects to meet business needs. I was required to be familiar with multiple approaches to problem-solving, systems analysis, liaison, project management, developing cost considerations and implementation timelines. I was required to:

 

· Analyse business needs.

· Interact with the customers to learn and document requirements.

· Interact with designers to understand software limitations.

· Assist programmers and multimedia specialists during system development.

· Perform system testing.

· Document requirements or contribute to user manuals.

· Liaise with faculty and divisions in regards to their www requirements.

· Chair implementation of new applications review.

This position coordinates multimedia projects to ensure suitable design and educational choices and effective resource management. Functions are to:

 

· Apply appropriate educational pedagogy to suit learning environment.

I was employed on a casual basis by the Faculty to deliver a number of FLEX courses. My responsibilities included the following:

 

· Assisting students with enquires related to course.

· Liaison with Course coordinator re any student issues.

· Assisting in creation of the online learning environment and face-to-face activities utilising information communication technology.

· Guiding and facilitating discussion/interaction with course materials through blackboard.

· Marking and moderation of assessment according to criteria.

· Providing feedback to students regarding assessment and providing clarification and scaffolding understanding regarding course content

I was responsible for the management of the multimedia projects undertaken by the Division of Teaching & Learning Services. As part of this function, I was required to:

 

· Provide project support and supervision to staff within the MDC

· Client liaison and negotiation

· Develop marketing initiatives and present product demonstrations

· Proactively seek software reviews in terms of their usage within the MDC

· Deal with clients on all issues including follow-up problems and negotiation

· Develop initiatives for project and administrative management procedures

· Monitor workflow for project teams and staff

Manager, Data Conversion

Student Administration

 

This was a secondment from Student Administration to assist with the delivery and implementation of PeopleSoft. I was responsible for the successful extraction from the legacy student records system (JET), including the cleansing required for accurate data conversion. This has required negotiation with ADTL’s to ensure timely delivery of cleansing requests.

 

The position was responsible for the supervision of one employee, ensuring they were fully trained in the use of the student records system (JET) and the new PeopleSoft application.

 

The position reported directly to the Director of Student Administration, and was required to provide weekly status reports on how the project was proceeding. This report covered areas including timeframes, budget, staff training, directions, plan of action, implementation and audit protocols.

Postgraduate Admissions Officer

I was responsible for the coordination of short and long term planning for postgraduate and direct admissions across the University. Ensuring that strategies and objectives were met to achieve efficient selection of students to postgraduate courses and provide advice and information to management pertaining to admissions. The main areas of responsibility were:

 

· Coordinate and control all postgraduate and direct admissions, changes of program and re-admissions for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

· Prepare and submit extensive written reports for senior management, the Chancellery Executive and the Education Committee of Academic Board.

· Conduct training sessions and distribute updated information to staff.

Program Adviser

The position is responsible for providing career and program advice to current and prospective students. I was required to counsel students in their choice of programs and courses through interview and other means such as school talks and attending careers markets. I was also required to prepare promotional material and coordinate recruitment activities. The position also required me to represent the Faculty on University wide committees and working parties, and collaborate with other Program Advisers within the University. I was required to have a thorough understanding of the impact of teaching and related materials, and knowledge of change theory and the role of leadership within a student-learning environment.
