I commenced a career in secondary teaching in 1985 teaching Maths, Science, Biology and Chemistry. From 1990 to 2001 I was involved in casual lecturing in Science Education at CQUniversity whilst teaching maths and science full-time at a local secondary school. Since 2002 I have worked as a full-time lecturer within the School of Education and the Arts, CQUniversity. In 2007 I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to return to secondary school teaching part-time and adjust my work at CQUniversity to accommodate this. Going back to secondary teaching was wonderful and reminded me of why I chose the profession. In 2013 I completed my Doctorate of Education titled 'Teacher as bricoleur: A grounded phenomenological case study of creativity in secondary school science education'.
