About Me

Dr. Tage Andersson is Head of Course for the Master of Management for Engineers and is based at the Rockhampton campus, Australia. He has 30 years of combined professional, academic, and research experience focused on the intersection between digital technologies, digital and sustainability transformations, innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, and supply chains.

Professional experience

Prior to joining CQUniversity, Tage Andersson worked in several senior management positions at companies such as Nokia, Cochlear, Fujitsu, Etherstack and has been responsible for innovation and business development; operations and supply chain management; project and program management; technology and engineering management.

In the past, Tage Andersson has been responsible for the development of Nokia Mobile Phones technology platforms and the innovation, commercialization, and production of mobile devices such as the Nokia 3510, Nokia 3550, Nokia 6111, Nokia 6210, and Nokia 6310. He led programs that defined, developed and delivered end-to-end solutions such as mobile data, mobile browsing, mobile gaming, mobile banking, mobile e-mail, and mobile picture blogging for clients and partners such as Vodafone, Nordea Bank, Visa International and CNN.

Research projects

To date, Tage Andersson has completed research with 30 senior managers from 25 large international companies in fast-moving volume-manufacture industries such as consumer electronics, automobile, industrial and medical product industries with significant innovation capabilities and innovation investments. This research focused on how these large companies continuously advance their innovation knowledge, competencies and skills to address complex and uncertain digital product innovation challenges. Ongoing research activities include projects such as:

  • Strategic project management for product innovation in Denmark.
  • Exploring lean transformation in an Australian mining organisation.
  • Modelling and optimisation of an integrated manufacturing-distribution plan in multi-echelon supply chains.
  • Facilitating the transformational change from traditional to digital agriculture: Adoption of digital livestock management solutions in Australia.
  • Facilitating the transformational change from traditional to digital agriculture: Development of viable digital beef livestock management solutions in Australia

Tage is seeking research candidates for the following research projects:

  • Exploring the effects of and response to emergent strategic issues in complex projects and programs. Research question: How do complex government/business programs execute deliberate strategies to meet strategic goals and adapt to emergent strategic issues?
  • Exploring business model desirability, feasibility, and viability for complex digital value chain projects and programs. Research question: How do complex digital value chain projects and programs explore business model innovation?

Tage Andersson welcomes queries from potential masters and doctoral students interested in pursuing research on the intersection between digital technologies, innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, projects and value/supply chains. Tage has particular interest in strategic project management practices for product, service and supply chain innovation; sustainable and social innovation; research and change initiatives.
