As an early career academic bringing a strong passion for education and scholarship, I am thrilled to be joining CQUniversity in 2025.
I receive a great deal of enjoyment from teaching and supporting students in achieving their academic and professional goals. With a wealth of experience teaching diverse students in a multitude of contexts, I have worked diligently to develop as an educator and academic, bringing a high level of competence and confidence into my role here as a Lecturer with CQUniversity Melbourne.
Before joining CQUniversity, I held a number of positions at universities in Australia and abroad. I spent several years working at QUT Brisbane and the University of Nottingham Ningbo China guiding and supporting students of various backgrounds and academic pursuits through their degrees.
In 2016, I joined Southern Cross University (SCU) Melbourne. Working with a diverse student population, I developed critical insights about modern university teaching environments and strategies to create engagement, promote inclusivity, and build student confidence. While working with SCU, I earned several additional postgraduate degrees, including an MBA and a Graduate Certificate in Education Research that further emboldened my academic status and teaching acumen.
In 2021, I commenced my PhD at Deakin University. The purpose of my PhD was to examine the collaborative, strategic and operational factors that enable organisations of various sectors to move toward more environmentally sustainable business practices. With organisations facing intensifying regulatory pressures to adopt more sustainable business practices, my research sought to aid decision making for regulatory compliance, particularly around sustainable packaging. My research also explores the vital role of knowledge acquisition and transfer in accelerating a circular economy for packaging.
I have undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from University of New England and Deakin University.
I have worked at Deakin, RMIT and University of Melbourne. Before my PhD, I also worked at Southern Cross University Melbourne, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and QUT Brisbane.
I am a citation recipient of 2023 Deakin University Faculty of Business & Law Teaching and Learning Award.
At Southern Cross University Melbourne, I taught Management Communication MNG81001, Managing Organisations (MNG10247), Sustainable Business Management (BUSN3002) and Applied Ethics & Sustainability (SOC11004).
While I was at Deakin, I taught Management (MMM132), Business Analytics (MIS171) and Business Ethics (MMM343). When joining RMIT and University of Melbourne, I tutored Integrated Perspectives of Business Problems (BUSM2577) and Managing Sustainably (MGMT30008) respectively.
I have advanced skills in the use of Excel and Power BI for data dashboarding and data analysis. I also have a good level of knowledge in using SQL for Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery. For research purposes, I have used IBM SPSS extensively.
I am currently writing a chapter to be included as an industry report for The Climate Centre, a non-profit dedicated to addressing environmental and climate-related challenges through research, advocacy, and public outreach. The Climate Centre conducts policy analysis focusing on evaluating and improving the Australian government’s policies, particularly in the context of Australia's green energy transition and environmental commitments. My contribution is a chapter outlining industry progress on addressing government policy around sustainable packaging.
I am currently accredited for supervision in the following:
