Dr. Renata Klafke

Lecturer - Management
School of Business and Law
About Me

I am a lecturer in Management at School of Business and Law, Central Queensland University, Melbourne Campus, Australia. With a PhD in Business Management (finished in July/2021), I bring over 20 years of experience to the academic and research world. Before PhD, I worked in various roles with the world’s leading organizations such as P&O Nedlloyd (today Maersk), Votorantim Cements, Springer Carrier, etc. My research portfolio includes over 25 publications mostly in high-quality journals (Q1 and Q2). In addition, I secured research grants totalling USD 32,000.

I stepped into the academic world in 2013 (once my little girl was born) and received the opportunity to work with universities from many places, including Brazil, Germany and Australia. My global experience includes studying, researching, teaching, and collaborating in countries like German, Brazil, England and Australia. All these things allowed me to bring diversified and multicultural knowledge to the classroom. I have enjoyed teaching a range of business management subjects/units such as international business management, supply chain management, research in business, culture and globalization, and business theories, among others. As a practitioner academic, I effectively integrate theory with practice to improve students' skills for competitive job markets. Given the changing industry and educational dynamics, I constantly evaluate, review and update learning materials as well as participate in the development of new subjects and courses.

I also contribute to the academic community through editorial and reviewing activities for several reputable journals (Q1 & Q2). I am a reviewer for the International Journal of Knowledge Management (ABDC B, Q2), International Journal of Emerging Markets (ABDC B, Q2), Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education (Q2), Personnel Review (ABDC A, Q1), SAGE Open (Q1), Asia Pacific Business Review (Q2), among others. These roles reflect my ongoing commitment to advancing research in my fields of expertise.

My teaching philosophy emphasizes active participation, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue, fostering both academic growth and professional readiness. I integrate real-world industry applications into the curriculum to ensure students graduate with practical, job-ready skills that align with market needs. To support diverse learning styles and promote deep understanding, I employ a range of innovative and evidence-based teaching methods, including Flipped Classroom, Project-Based Learning (PBL), Microlearning, Case Studies, consulting projects with SMEs, and student-led self-assessment and reflective exercises. These strategies not only enhance student engagement but also encourage autonomy, creativity, and collaboration, preparing students to navigate the complexities of contemporary business environments with confidence.

I work closely with the Centre for Regional Economies and Supply Chains at CQUniversity, engaging with projects on Food Supply Chain Management and Blockchain Technology. My role involves conducting qualitative research, organizing and presenting workshops, and engaging with stakeholders.
