I am an Associate Professor in Paramedic Science at Central Queensland University's School of Health, Medical, and Applied Sciences in Australia. With a background spanning over 15 years as an operational Critical Care and Consultant Paramedic, I bring substantial clinical expertise to this role.
Throughout my career, I have gained experience in various clinical settings across multiple healthcare systems in different countries. My responsibilities extend beyond clinical practice; as I am actively engaged in developing, teaching, and overseeing postgraduate and undergraduate units and programs. Moreover, I provide leadership, mentorship, and research guidance to both faculty and students embarking on research projects at honors, master's, and doctoral levels. My academic engagement also includes serving as an examiner for postgraduate theses and contributing as a peer reviewer for multiple academic journals.
My current research pursuits focus on Health Professions education, investigations into superiority, equivalence, and non-inferiority concerning prehospital equipment and medicines, simulation-based education, and factors relevant to paramedic-delivered care.
At CQU, in addition to serving as the unit leader for two postgraduate units, I am primarily responsible for creating opportunities for novice and early paramedic researchers to flourish in the field of paramedicine. This includes nurturing researchers in paramedicine to cultivate the skills and knowledge necessary for high-quality research and ensuring that research conducted at CQU is aligned with international standards of excellence.
