About Me

I have been teaching and researching Taxation Law for over 15 years having been involved in the practical field of providing taxation advice and working as a lawyer. 

General
Background

I gained a strong interest in taxation law while working for a large bank in their tax effective financing area. I continued to study taxation law at a post graduate level prior to moving to a university for employment purposes. I have maintained my strong interest in taxation law.  

Universities Studied At

I commenced my tertiary study at the University of Tasmania in law and then completed postgraduate study at Monash University and RMIT University.

Universities Worked At

I have worked at RMIT University, CQ University, University of Canberra, University of Wollongong, James Cook University in Singapore, Charles Darwin University and the University of Tasmania.

Previous teaching

My teaching has mainly been in the area of Taxation Law but I have also taught Commercial Law, Corporate Law, International Business Law, International Taxation Law, Law of Investments and Ethics for CPA students and Financial Planning students. 

Professional Experience

I have worked as a lawyer, banker and tax consultant for many years prior to becoming an academic.

Professional Memberships

I am a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia, a CPA Australia member and a Fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia.

Industry Reports

My most recent industry submission is to the Australian Treasury on the introduction of a 'Patent Box'. The submission is available on the Treasury website.

Editor

I am currently the editor of the Journal of Australian Taxation a 'B' ranked journal within the ABDC list and the journal is listed on the Scopus website. At least one edition is published each year.
