About Me

Dr Chamil Erik Ramanayaka is a lecturer in Construction Management. In addition to Building Information Modelling (BIM), his research focuses on sustainable financing and sustainability communication in the construction industry, construction project planning, urban sprawl and reflective practice by construction project managers. He has the ‘Project (BIM) Information Practitioner’ qualification from the British Standards Institute and completed executive education programs in ‘Sustainable Financing and Communication’ in the Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and London School of Economics and Political Science. Erik has collaborated with multiple professional organisations internationally to promote digital construction project management, and organised and supported well-known international conferences in the Built Environment. After a rewarding experience in commercial construction, he moved to New Zealand to pursue his PhD funded by ‘Fletcher Construction’. Since then, he has worked in multiple academic positions in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Recently, he has collaborated with universities in Australia and New Zealand to host a special issue in the Built Environment Project and Asset Management Journal on ‘Driving Circular Economy and Sustainability in Construction through Innovation and Change Management.’
