My passion is all things aviation and helping students learn how to apply the knowledge that we provide to make them better problem solvers and critical thinkers throughout their careers. I have been in aviation for 40 years with my most recent career path in academia where I completed a PhD in Aviation Human Factors and Safety Management Systems in 2012 conducting research in emotional responses to perceived threats in high-risk industries. Thesis titled "Controlled Flight into Emotional Terrain". I hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) fixed wing rating, and a Commercial Instrument rating in helicopters with over 20 years of experience flying military, commercial, private charter, and emergency medical operations. I began my aviation career as a military paratrooper with 34 takeoffs and only one landing in the aircraft that I took off in.
