About Me

I have a passion for sonography, ethical research, academic integrity, education and teaching.  Most rewarding is when my teaching results in the light bulb moment for students and then watching them grow from strength to strength with ongoing support. Ethical based research forms the basis for improved patient care.  Students need to be inspired to research but with assistance, they can also benefit when they embrace ethical research.  Academic integrity is the foundation of research, learning and teaching.  Upholding the principals of academic integrity is very important to me.

General

Background

Trained as a general multidisciplinary sonographer, I have sonography experience, including obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal, small parts, and paediatrics.  I have some experience in musculoskeletal, vascular ultrasound (including lower limb DVTs, carotids, renal and superficial vascular malformations) and a good grounding in echocardiography.  Since 1994 I have been involved in sonography education at t tertiary level including clinical supervision, unit of study coordination, tutorial delivery and guest lecturing at The University of Sydney until the delivery of the sonography course was withdrawn in 2013.  At the The University of Notre Dame, I delivered sonography tutorials to 1st year medical students.  At UNSW, I was a RHD co-supervisor supervising a PhD candidate to completion in 2021.  Also while a research sonographer at UNSW, I supported Medical PhD, Honors and ILP students to complete their sonography based projects, many resulting in publication and/or presentation.
