Before joining CQUniversity in June 2018, Associate Professor Pak Poon worked at RMIT University (2016-2018) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (1999-2016).
Pak has a diverse range of research interests, including software engineering (particularly software testing); spreadsheet testing; computer science/IT education; end user computing; e-commerce; and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. He has published in top-tier venues, including IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), IEEE Transactions on Reliability, IEEE Transactions on Education, ACM Transactions on Software Engineering & Methodology (TOSEM), ACM Computing Surveys, Communications of the ACM (CACM); and Knowledge-Based Systems.
Pak is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Organizational & End User Computing and a Senior Editor of the Journal of Information Systems Education. He is also on the editorial review board of the International Journal of Information Systems & Supply Chain Management. Previously, he served as a Guest Editor for two special issues of the Journal of Systems & Software, and was on the editorial board of the ISACA Journal: The Source for IT Governance Professionals (formerly Information Systems Control Journal). Furthermore, Pak has served as a Reviewer for various journals such as IEEE Transactions on Reliability; IEEE Transactions on Education, Decision Support Systems; Journal of Systems & Software; Software: Practice & Experience; Information & Software Technology; International Journal of Information Management; Software Testing, Verification & Reliability; and IET Software.
In 2020, Pak had successfully secured a research grant from Facebook Research (possibly one of the most prestigious industrial grants). The topic of this research grant was "Identify Metamorphic Relations for Testing Web-Enabled Simulation Systems", under the funding scheme "Agent-based User Interaction Simulation to Find and Fix Integrity and Privacy Issues".
