About Me

Lois is currently working part-time at CQU and is co-leader of the LIFEE Cluster of the CREATE Research Centre. In her current role, she supports research around STEM Central Projects with Dr. Linda Pfeiffer. She also supervises RhD students and continues to build project teams and write about areas of academic interest including assessment, feedback, student engagement, and educational equity. She recently completed a National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE) funded project in collaboration with Deakin University around how to make exams more inclusive for students with disabilities.

Lois completed her initial teacher training in the United States at University of Arizona. She taught in middle and high schools in California before moving to Australia in 2002. She then worked in mainstream and distance education schools in Queensland for Education Queensland as a secondary English and SOSE teacher, while simultaneously pursuing a PhD. Upon completion of her PhD, she worked with Professor Gavin Brown at University of Auckland during a two year Post-doctoral Fellowship. She has also taught diverse teacher education subjects at CQU and worked on a range of HEPPP funded projects aimed to improve equity for students transitioning to university. Her current role is as Research Fellow, supporting work within the CREATE research centre and with STEM Central projects.
