About Me

Sarkar is a senior lecturer in the Civil Engineering discipline at Central Queensland University (CQUniversity). He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh and PhD in Civil Engineering from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Prior to joining CQUniversity, he worked as an associate lecturer at QUT and lecturer at MIST.

Sarkar is recognised for his contributions in the areas of finite element modelling, non-destruction testing and material level and large-scale structural level testing of masonry structures. He published over 15 scholarly publications, including book chapter, journal and conference papers. He is a regular reviewer of various international journals and technical committee member of The Fifth Australasia and South-East Asia Structural Engineering and Construction Conference.

Sarkar received $50,000 CAT-3 industry funding to investigate the structural performance double brick masonry walls. He also secured over $90,000 university funding for developing non-destructive and destructive testing facility.
