About Me

Dr Richard Koech joined CQUniversity (Department of Agriculture, Science and Environment) in January 2017 as a Lecturer in Agriculture. Richard is an Agricultural Engineer, with masters and PhD qualifications in the field of irrigation engineering and hydraulics. Richard previously worked as an Agricultural Engineer in the Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya, and later as a Lecturer at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), also in Kenya. Since receiving his PhD from the University of Southern Queensland, Richard has worked as a Research Engineer (University of South Australia, Mawson Lakes Campus, Adelaide) and as a Program Leader, International Development and Training, Agriculture Water Management (University of New England, Armidale).

Richard’s expertise and research interests include:

Agricultural soil and water management

Agricultural irrigation

Agricultural education and extension

Biosystems engineering (including biomass and bioenergy studies)

Hydraulics and fluid mechanics

Metrology and uncertainty analysis

Smart water metering

Remote sensing and spatial analysis (GIS)

Watershed analysis and hydrology
