About Me

I am an experienced academic, manager, midwife and nurse. My extensive experience as a midwife, educator and manager within the public health system has underpinned my academic career. My teaching within the tertiary sector was recognised nationally in 2006, I received a National Carrick Citation for curriculum development, Master of Science (Midwifery) course, University of Wollongong to promote evidence-based practice, research and enhance student-practitioner interaction. This was awarded by the Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Ltd (now Australian Learning & Teaching Council). I am currently a member of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) Strategic Accreditation Advisory Committee (SAAC). I am a Fellow of the Australian College of Midwives. I am currently an Associate Editor for the Women and Birth Journal

General
Background

I have taken a key role in influencing the direction of both midwifery and nursing education with a leadership role as Dean of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences, CQUniversity and in professional organisations and accreditation bodies .

I currently supervise research higher degree students.

I have co-supervised eight students to successful completion:

2017: Nutritional requirements during pregnancy: what nutritional advice is provided by midwives to pregnant women? : co-supervisor.
