Associate Professor Baldwin is a registered nurse and midwife with extensive clinical and academic experience across a diverse range of nursing and midwifery topic areas. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate course offerings as well as supervising higher degree students. Associate Professor Baldwin's research interests are twofold: improving health outcomes and preparing the future health workforce. She is a valued team member working with multidisciplinary teams across multiple organisations building evidence that enhances the quality of healthcare provided to those who require it, as well as contributing to preparation of nurses and midwives to provide the care.
Associate Professor Baldwin is based in Townsville where she has worked clinically and academically for many years, contributing to improved community wellbeing through improved health care provision. Her role as a clinical educator in women's health led to transferring to the tertiary education sector in 2006 when she commenced at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Nutrition at James Cook University, prior to commencing at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences at CQUniversity Townsville campus in 2016. Associate Professor Baldwin maintains strong industry links through ongoing collaboration with clinical agencies across the region as well as the national and international contexts.
