An experienced Mechanical Engineer over 15 years experience in academic research and industrial R&D activities expertise in waste-to-energy, renewable energy, biofuel and searching of alternative energy sources. He awarded the Advanced Queensland Industry Research Fellowship (AQIRF), for the year 2022 -2025. He is now leading the project titled: “Cheaper greener Queensland: Optimising renewable fuel production from mixed-waste” supported by the Advanced Queensland, CQUniversity, Northern Oil Refinery Pty. Ltd. (Gladstone) and Synbio Pty. Ltd. (Gladstone) with the combined eligible project cash conttribution of AUD 1,248,000. Published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers which obtained about 3,200+ research citations with a h-index of 20 (google scholar). Among those, a paper on biomass pyrolysis has been cited more than 1200+ times and stood number one amongst top-cited papers in the Energies journal. Current research focuses on industrialising waste-to-energy technologies and supporting the local industries in achieving their objectives. Dr. Islam's hand on expertise in municipal solid waste processing, pyrolysis reator operation, and analytical laboratory skills will be benificial for this project.
