About Me

I began my career in education as a primary school teacher but have worked in a range of contexts including work as a Learning Support teacher and Secondary Drama and English teacher.

I have been employed at CQUniversity since 2000 beginning my work here teaching the Drama electives and Arts curriculum course in the Bachelor of Learning Management. I played an integral role in the development of the Bachelor of Education course which commenced delivery in 2014 to align with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and served as the Head of Course for the primary degree from 2011 to 2016. Since that time I have been appointed as the Academic Director of Professional Practice to facilitate effective professional experience placements for preservice teachers.

I have a particular interest in literacy teaching and learning and have been involved in research projects with a focus on reading comprehension for middle school students. My doctoral research is in this area.
