About Me
Gemma Mann is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Access Education and has a passion for inclusive education. After 5 years as the Coordinator, First Year Experience in the Student Support Centre, in 2014 Gemma became a full time academic. She advocates for inclusive education across her various roles. This includes being Access Coordinator (campus coordinator) within CQUniversity's Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies Course (STEPS), and Unit Coordinator and lecturer across mathematics and physics units. She is also the Coordinator and trainer for the CQUniversity Ally Program for LGBTIQ+ inclusion, education and research. Gemma is a member of the Centre of Research in Equity and Advancement of Teaching and Education (CREATE).
General
Background
Gemma completed a PhD in Materials Engineering (2008) from The University of Queensland, and was a postdoctoral research assistant in Engineering Education at Purdue University, IN, USA. Gemma has also completed a Masters of Education by research from CQUniversity in mathematics Enabling Education. Gemma has many community roles, including regional coordinator for an international student exchange organisation since 1999, CQ Pride Fair Day organising committee since 2010, and sits on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee for CQ Hospital and Health Service.
