Leeanne is Head of Course for the Bachelor of Nursing where she is responsible for academic leadership and oversight of quality of all aspects within the Bachelor of Nursing course. She is passionate about curriculum development and is currently involved in the development of the next Bachelor of Nursing course. Leeanne has a background in using simulation to support learning in nursing and has recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy titled Sim-MAPP: A framework for simulation design in pre-registration nursing curricula. The Sim-MAPP framework makes an important contribution to understanding simulation pedagogy and provides a tool that can be used to map fidelity, design and inform the implementation of immersive simulation, including, then evaluate simulation activities in pre-registration nursing.
Leeanne has had a number of roles in academia following experience working in the clinical environment as a paramedic, nurse, midwife and flight nurse. She is a non-executive director on the Mackay Hospital and Health Board, including as Deputy Chair of the Safety and Quality Committee and member of the Audit and Risk Committee. Leeanne is Deputy Chair of the Registered Nurse Accreditation Committee (RNAC) on the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). She also sits on the Mackay-Whitsunday Region Engagement Committee and Mackay-Whitsunday Academic Growth and Development Committee.

Leeanne has extensive experience teaching in undergraduate, postgraduate and offshore programs, particularly designing simulated activities and assessments, teaching clinical skills and facilitating realistic simulated interprofessional scenarios.
Prior to working in education Leeanne worked in a variety of settings as a registered nurse, registered midwife, paramedic and flight nurse with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. She uses this experience and knowledge to assist in her current position and is passionate about her role in education.
