About Me

Bianca Mister is a Lecturer in the School of Access Education and an emerging scholar in applied linguistics. Her work focuses on vocabulary development, academic literacy, and heritage language maintenance and revitalisation, with a strong emphasis on connecting research with pedagogical practice. Bianca has a growing publication record in leading Q1-ranked applied linguistics journals, reflecting her increasing contribution and impact within the field. She serves as the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Representative on the executive committee of the Australian Applied Linguistics Association of Australia (AALA), supporting research engagement and professional development within the community. Bianca brings an international perspective shaped by teaching and research experience across Australia, Vietnam, and Argentina. Alongside her academic role, she has extensive experience in curriculum and learning design, contributing to innovative, large-scale education initiatives in collaboration with leading Australian universities. Her work aims to enhance student success through evidence-informed and inclusive language education practices.

Background

Bianca completed a PhD in Education from the University of Wollongong, specialising in the pedagogy of productive oral vocabulary development. In addition to her academic roles, Bianca has also worked extensively as a Senior Learning Designer and has been actively involved in the development of various educational programs. She has extensive experience in curriculum design, learning innovation, and digital education; having worked with leading Australian universities, including the University of Queensland, University of Melbourne, University of Wollongong, and UNSW.
