About Me
I am a dedicated postdoctoral researcher at Central Queensland University, passionate about advancing livestock health through microbial ecology. My research focuses on chicken gut microbiomes, using cutting-edge technologies to explore disease predispositions and improve agricultural sustainability. I aim to deliver innovative solutions that enhance livestock productivity and resilience.
General
Background
My research journey began with studying microbial ecology in livestock, particularly chickens and pigs, to address diseases like Spotty Liver Disease and Post-weaning Diarrhoea. During my PhD at Central Queensland University, I published 12 peer-reviewed articles, including 7 on livestock health and five on soil recovery, tackling challenges like pasture dieback. I employ advanced techniques such as microbiome profiling, functional profiles, transcriptomics, genomic interpretations, and nutrigenomics to understand disease predispositions and improve poultry health outcomes. My postdoctoral work continues to explore these areas, contributing to sustainable farming practices.
Universities Studied At
I completed my Bachelor of Science and Honours at the University of Queensland, where I developed a strong foundation in microbial ecology and molecular biology at the Blackall Laboratory, a leading centre for bacterial pathogen research.
Awards
I received the Dean’s Commendation for academic excellence during my studies at the University of Queensland.
Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher at CQU, I manage laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflows for molecular biology projects. I supervise PhD students, training them in advanced techniques like RNA-seq, shotgun sequencing, and microbiome profiling.
Professional Interests
My professional interests centre on gut microbiomes and their role in health. I focus on using cutting-edge technologies like microbiome profiling, functional profiles, transcriptomics, genomic interpretations, and nutrigenomics to study disease predispositions. I am committed to improving poultry health outcomes and contributing to sustainable agriculture through innovative research.
