I trained as a Registered Nurse in Townsville and began my postgraduate studies with CQUniversity in 1992. During my nursing career in both the public and private sectors, my specialty area was Intensive Care nursing with my last role as the Organ and Tissue Donation Coordinator for Central Queensland, a position I held for over 10 years. My roles in the industry have included clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager, educator, and mentor. Over the past 24 years, I have also held casual teaching and research assistant positions with the university until full-time employment with CQUniversity in 2012 in my current position.
I also hold qualifications as a fitness instructor/personal trainer and have many years of experience as a gym instructor and PT whilst pursuing a range of personal fitness challenges for my own health and wellbeing. In 2019 I graduated from the Climate Leadership Training Corp and strive to be a leader in effecting positive change for climate and environmental sustainability.
I have a strong focus on the development of flexible pathways to education using engaging resources for student success and lead a highly motivated and enthusiastic team in the Centre for Professional Development as part of the Learning, Design, and Innovation Directorate. CPD works in collaboration with academics and subject matter experts to design and develop micro-credentials for industry disciplines, communities, and our graduates to meet professional standards for registration, accreditation, and lifelong learning and provide pathways to further qualifications.
