About Me

Megan Hendry joined the Institute for Future Farming Systems at CQUniversity’s School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences in 2021 after a 15-year career in the media.

Megan reports to IFFS Deputy Director Michael Thomson,  developing communications strategies and delivering content for CQUniversity's agriculture research teams and industry partners. 

General
Background

Megan landed her first journalism job in print media at The Rockhampton Morning Bulletin in 2005, while still completing a Bachelor of Professional Communication at CQUniversity.

After graduating in 2007, she moved into broadcast journalism with the ABC in 2008.

In her 12 years with the national broadcaster, Megan worked in a number of different reporting roles covering a variety of stories across radio, television and online.

Her work featured in programs including ABC News, 7.30 QLD, Landline, The Country Hour, The World Today, AM, PM, ABC Local Radio Queensland, Triple J News.

Megan presented regular ABC local radio news bulletins and reported live-to-air on television, covering floods, bushfires and other breaking news events. 

Megan worked as the Acting Regional Content Manager for the ABC in Rockhampton during Cyclone Marcia, co-ordinating emergency broadcasting efforts and news gathering teams.

After moving on from the ABC in 2020, Megan worked as the Marketing and Engagement Manager for a central Queensland based credit union before taking up her current role at CQUniversity.
