About Me
A bit about me …
I was born on the lands of the Kaurna Aboriginal people, which is now known as Adelaide in South Australia, and now live in central Victoria (near Bendigo) on Dja Dja Wurrung country.
I have been a social worker for about twenty years. I am an Accredited AASW Member, and a member of the Editorial Board for the journal Australian Social Work.
Before I came to CQU, I had a long career in the Commonwealth Public Sector as a social worker and manager. I have worked in Academic roles for the past ten years at lots of different universities in Australia and taught a broad variety of subjects including research methods, social work practice skills, field education. I have worked on national and international research projects and I have a broad publication track record.
I am passionate about critical reflection and reflective practices, and my PhD explored how social workers learn and use reflection. I have published internationally and presented my work at a range of national and international conferences My current research interests are in supporting community recovery after disaster and giving a voice to women and children survivors of family violence.
