I am a Lecturer for CB87 Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at Central Queensland University Australia, based at the Rockhampton North Campus.
I graduated from James Cook University in 2013 with a Bachelor in Speech Pathology. After graduating, I worked in the education, private and non-for-profit sectors with children aged 0-16. I primarily worked with children with complex communication needs which developed my special interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems. In 2018, I received my Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) from the Queensland University of Technology and moved into a management role within the disability/not-for-profit sector. In 2025, I completed my PhD through Central Queensland University. My thesis explored and conceptualised clinical competence in augmentative and alternative communication for Australian speech language pathologists. As part of my role at CQU, I continue to provide clinical services to children with disabilities living in under-resourced countries including Thailand and Fiji.
The objective of my teaching practice, is to provide an engaging and interactive learning experience for speech pathology students which will directly prepare them for clinical practice. I aim to facilitate an environment which fosters independence, critical thinking and flexibility in students, to ensure they are well prepared to see any client, in any setting.
