About Me
Sidney is a researcher and lecturer focusing on human factors, systems thinking, and psychology. With a background in psychological science, she has researched consumer perspectives regarding the boundaries of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in esports. In addition, she is a unit coordinator in psychology, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate positive psychology. Sidney is extending her research interests to investigate system factor studies in the rail and forestry industries, aiming to improve safety, efficiency, and overall well-being in these environments.
General
Background
Sidney completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science in 2016 and her Honours degree the following year. In 2024, she completed her PhD, which explored consumer perspectives on trash talk in esports. Her research concentrates on qualitative methodology, employing various approaches and analyses to investigate her fields of interest. In the later years of her PhD, Sidney became a casual researcher at CQU’s Appleton Institute for Behavioural Science. She applied her skills in qualitative research across various disciplines, including conventional sports, nursing, and military projects. While she has grown her expertise in esports, Sidney has also found an interest in researching human factors and systems thinking in rail and forestry industries. Beyond research, Sidney has also been a unit coordinator/tutor at CQU, teaching undergraduate psychology and allied health and is currently teaching in the Positive Psychology program.
