About Me

Kerry is a lecturer with CQUniversity's School of Access Education. She has worked as an Academic Learning Advisor in the sciences and mathematics and has engaged in Unit Coordination, lecturing, tutoring and marking in the STEPS Program. Kerry has supported STEPS students' entry, wellbeing, and retention as an Access Coordinator and from 2026 she will hold the Academic Learning Centre's Discipline Coordinator roles for Science and Mathematics & Statistics.

Kerry has lead educational and cross-disciplinary research, including cross-institutional research. She is currently working on her PhD in Education with the University of Queensland.

General
Background

Kerry Bond is an experienced bioscience educator with CQUniversity’s School of Access Education, originally coming from an extensive secondary teaching background. Kerry supports learners as an Academic Learning Advisor, with strengths in supporting students in disciplinary language acquisition and learning skills. Kerry also teaches into the STEPS program, applying student-centred, evidence-based pedagogies informed by educational psychology and brain-based learning principles. From 2026, Kerry holds the Academic Learning Centre’s Discipline Coordinator roles for Science, and Mathematics and Statistics.

A registered Queensland teacher and holder of a Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellowship, Kerry brings leadership experience from both secondary and tertiary contexts and has a background providing professional development for educators. As a Unit Coordinator and Lecturer, she has been actively engaged in reflexive curriculum and assessment design, particularly in response to the challenges and opportunities presented by generative AI. Her leadership experience in both secondary and tertiary arenas have honed her pastoral approach to student care. Beyond CQUni, Kerry has co-facilitated the NAEEA STEM SIG throughout 2024-2025, providing professional development and research opportunities to its members. She constructed and continues to manage the SIG’s website.

Kerry is a nationally recognised researcher who has interests spanning educational psychology, with an emphasis on learning strategies, STEM education, technology-enhanced learning (TEL), and disciplinary language acquisition. As an early career researcher, Kerry is completing her PhD with UQ’s Learning, Instruction and Technology (LIT) Lab, investigating learning strategy instruction in Enabling Education. She is a member of AALL and NAEEA and is committed to advancing inclusive, evidence-informed educational practices that support high quality learning, student wellbeing, and student retention.

Kerry values lifelong learning and fosters collaboration across educational sectors to enhance teaching and learning outcomes for diverse student cohorts.

Recipient of a CQUniversity 2021 Learning Teaching Research & Development Grant, valued at $11 962. Kerry is the Chief Investigator of a project aimed at improving bioscience language acquisition in nursing students.
