About Me

I joined CQU in 2019 and am a lecturer with the School of Education and the Arts at the Cairns Campus. My research interests include narrative inquiry, autoethnography, creative writing and teacher wellbeing. I am currently researching the use of storytelling as a tool for enhancing social connection and wellbeing.

My teaching career began in 1997 when I was living in the UK. I initially worked as a primary school teacher and then changed to secondary teaching in 2002. After moving to Australia in 2004, I continued working as an English teacher before taking on the leadership roles of Head of Department and Deputy Principal.

As well as teaching pre-service teachers on the Bachelors and Masters programs, I also supervise Education and Creative Writing students who are completing their Masters or Doctorates.
