About Me
I have enjoyed a varied and extensive nursing career as a registered nurse spanning over 25 years across many work areas across Australia. I have a passion for aged care nursing - caring for the older person and supporting their families. As an academic and Head of Course for Postgraduate Clinical Nursing at CQUniversity, I have the pleasure of teaching this specialised practice to highly motivated and caring nurses across the aged care, community, and acute care settings.
I am passionate about connecting nursing students and health professionals to enhance health outcomes for older people.
I have a PhD in aged care research. My research explored adult children’s experiences of shared decision-making in their parents’ care in a residential aged care facility. The findings underpinned the development of a trauma-informed model of care that will contribute to improved outcomes for older adults and their families and provide a holistic framework for care provision.
