About Me
I work as an Associate Professor and I am the Head of Course Safety Sciences within School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences (HMAS).
I work in the field of Safety Science as a teacher, researcher and higher education pedagogist. I strive to develop Safety Science professionals as life-long learners and capable postgraduate researchers. My research interests are around Organisational Resilience, Human Factors, Organisational Psychology and Accident Phenomenology.
General
Background
Dr Karen Klockner works as an Associate Professor at Central Queensland University. She is the Head of Course Safety Science within School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences (HMAS). Karen teaches across the OH&S and Human Factors programs at CQUniversity. She is a past member of the Office of Industrial Relations Queensland – Work Health and Safety – Transport and Storage Industry Sector Standing Committee for 2019 - 2022.
Prior to joining CQUniversity Karen was the Manager of Human Factors at the Rail Safety Regulation Branch for the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland.
She is a Registered Psychologist, has a Masters in Human Factors and Safety Management Systems and has a PhD in Human Factors in through CQUniversity.
Karen has extensive experience working in both clinical and organisational psychology as well as Human Factors and Occupational Health and Safety fields. Her areas of research interest are Human Factors, Safety Science, Organisational Resilience and Psychology particularly Clinical (Trauma) and Organisational Psychology.
