About Me

My career has been characterised by over twenty years’ experience as an on-road paramedic across two States. I have successfully held a number of clinical and leadership-based roles during this time. I qualified as an Intensive Care Paramedic in South Australia 2000. From 2011, as an Extended Care Paramedic with SA Ambulance Service I was actively involved in both the community and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). I also had the opportunity to work on projects including researching a system for complex client management, and developing and implementing the seasonal influenza immunisation programs state-wide for SA Ambulance Service. I have also worked on infection prevention and control strategies, and looked after staff with regard to exposure management. From November 2010 I was employed as a casual tutor/lecturer for the Bachelor of Paramedic Science at Flinders University. In late 2014 I combined my clinical skills and experience and my education in ethics working as a Clinical Research Co-ordinator in the Heart Health stream with the South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). In 2015, I decided to return to the field of education, combining my clinical experience and passion for developing new clinicians, and gained a position at CQUniversity, teaching initially into 3rd year in the undergraduate course, before moving into postgraduate studies. I co-ordinate and teach units across a number of postgraduate courses, including the tactical medicine, critial care, primary healthcare and public health disciplines.
