Born in Zimbabwe and relocated to South Africa at the age of 10 years.
I completed school and went on to study at the Addington Campus of Nursing in Durban, South Africa.
After completing my nursing qualification and becoming a Registered Nurse, I stayed on at the hospital in the Orthopedic department. I completed a post grad. Diploma in Orthopedic nursing.
I relocated further down the coast 2 yrs later to Amamzimtoti, Winkelspruit and started working at a community clinic that offered Primary Health Care. I completed my B.Tech in Primary Health at the Technical University of Natal, Durban in 2002.
In 2008 I left South Africa for the United Kingdom. Was I in for a rude awakening! My qualifications were not recognized.
I got my first job as a live in carer. I progressed to Hospital Health assistant in a Neck of Femur Fracture ward at Princess Alexander Hospital in Harlow Essex. I finally got through the red tape and had my Reg Nurse qualification accepted.
The family decided that we needed a warmer climate and came to Emerald QLD.
I took up a familiar position with Oz Care doing Community Caring. It wasn't long before I was offered a post with Central Queensland Rural Health as a project officer looking after Medical Student Placements.Funding for the position came to and end and I took a position within the Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast- PHN, as a Practice Support Officer.
I have now settled here at the CQUni in a position of Associate Lecturer in the school of Nursing and Midwifery. I am in the process of completing my Grad Cert in Tertiary Ed with CQUni.
