About Me
Kulsoom Siddiqui is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Access Education and provides academic support to students in the Academic Learning Centre. She completed a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Humanities, and a Master of Arts specialising in TESOL. Kulsoom began her career over a 10 years ago as an ESL instructor for refugees and migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds before moving into teaching first-year university students in the Academic Pathway program at Western Sydney University, The College. It was here she discovered her passion to support learners from diverse backgrounds achieve their educational goal. Using research-based strategies and a combination of pedagogical and andragogical practices, Kulsoom has a track record in creating a supportive learning environment, evidenced in student feedback.
Kulsoom also worked as a Learning Support Coordinator for the University of Tasmania Ultimo Study Centre, identifying and supporting at-risk students and overseeing targeted academic support for international students. She supported student transition and success by delivering high-quality learning and skills development through individual consultations, workshops, embedded curriculum activities and the creation of digital resources, working close in partnership with academic staff and student-support teams. Her dedication to student success at UTAS was recognised with a UTAS' Student-Nominated Appreciation Certificate during Semester 2, 2025.
Kulsoom is skilful in online delivery and in the use of multiple digital platforms to support student engagement. She has also worked as an IELTS and OET Assessor at WSU, an instructor for the Online University English Entry Course with UNSW College, and with St. George & Sutherland Community College in the Adult and Community Education (ACE) program, teaching literacy, numeracy and vocational skills for refugee and migrant mothers in Auburn LGA. Throughout her career, Kulsoom contributed to improved student engagement through evidence-informed, inclusive practices and bring her expertise to CQU to further enhance learning outcomes, foster a supportive learning environment and meet the diverse needs of all students.
