About Me
Sathyathas is an accomplished lecturer in medical imaging and medical physics, as well as a researcher and clinical professional with over a decade of experience. He has extensive teaching, research, and clinical experience in both Australia and overseas. His research focuses on medical image processing using conventional and deep-learning techniques, with particular emphasis on computed tomography, including metal artifact reduction, noise reduction, and medical image synthesis.
His PhD program was a collaborative research project between the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and a Switzerland-based company, focusing on the development of an innovative non-invasive medical device designed to provide precise guidance for cardiac radioablation procedures. His work achieved ultrasound transducer–induced metal artifact reduction in CT imaging using both conventional and state-of-the-art deep learning techniques, leading to the award of a US patent.
Currently, Sathyathas serves as a Lecturer in Medical Imaging at Central Queensland University, Australia. Prior to this role, he worked as a Medical Imaging Practitioner in Victoria, Australia. He holds professional registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (AHPRA) under general registration, as well as registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, UK) and the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC, Sri Lanka).
