About Me

 Dr. Nuruzzaman Khan is a globally recognized biostatistician and public health expert, currently serving as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia. With a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Statistics and a Master’s degree with Honors in Population Science, Dr. Khan has built an exceptional academic and research career at the intersection of biostatistics, epidemiology, and global health.

Dr. Khan’s research focuses primarily on sexual and reproductive health (SRH), maternal and child health, and the health of forcibly displaced populations, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) such as Bangladesh. His work blends quantitative rigor with qualitative depth, utilizing advanced statistical modeling to generate actionable insights for health policy and programming. He has published nearly 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet, Nature, BMJ, and the Bulletin of the World Health Organization. His scholarly contributions have been cited over 30000 times (Google Scholar), positioning him among the top 2% of scientists globally, as recognized by Stanford University and Elsevier since 2022.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khan has held academic appointments at prominent institutions including the University of Newcastle, La Trobe University, and the University of Sydney in Australia. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. He also serves as an Associate Editor or Academic Editor for leading journals such as BMC Public Health, PLOS ONE, PLOS Global Public Health, and Reproductive Health.

Dr. Khan is a dedicated mentor and educator, having successfully supervised six higher degree research students—five PhD graduates and one MPhil graduate—who have gone on to contribute meaningfully to academic and applied public health sectors. He currently leads a diverse and growing group of research students, including several PhD candidates, in areas such as reproductive health, health equity, and population health analytics. He welcomes inquiries from prospective graduate students and early-career researchers interested in pursuing higher degrees (PhD or MPhil) under his supervision, especially those with a commitment to impactful global health research.

In addition to his academic engagements, Dr. Khan provides research and technical consultancy to major national and international organizations including the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, and Asian Development Bank, contributing to the development of evidence-based policies and interventions.
